how to edit
Pages that need to be translated will almost always have 2 sections.
The first is the original Russian text. In general, the Russian section should not be edited unless you see something clearly wrong.
The second section of a page is the place for the English translation. This is where initial and ongoing translation work happens.
For example:
Example Page
31 aвгуста 1801 года
Именной указ, объявленный Монетному Департаменту Президентом оного Алабьевым. - О делании серебряных рублей по вновь утвержденному образцу.
TRANSLATION:
August 31st, 1801
Imperial Decree announced to the Monetary Department by its President (A.V.) Alyabiev -
Concerning the Production of Silver Rubbles of a New Approved Design.
This translation clearly needs to be fixed! To edit:
- Click to enable edit button in the english section
- edit (this button appears nearby after step 1).
Note: the Edit button at the bottom of every page will allow you to edit anything and everything on a page, not just the translation. To be safe, please don't use this. Instead use the Section Edit method as described above.

what to edit
Basically translate/edit/improve anything you want! We've added page tags to let you find, for example, pages that pertain to a particular tsar or article type or author. See the page tag cloud on the right side of every page.
Also, while there are many documents posted here, using tags and page trees we hope will make site navigation easy.
Thanks in advance for your help, and if you have any problems or feedback, please contact the project leaders.
